Ternai Ltd. – a three-generation family business – began operations in September 2000 with fewer than 20 employees. Our colleagues previously worked in horticultural production (foil greenhouses); today they mainly work in trading. The number of employees has grown to about 50, plus a similar number of seasonal agricultural workers.
The company's market position is stable: we produce and sell high-quality products, mainly in EU countries, and we have been shipping to Switzerland for many years. Thanks to cold foil-tent growing, we can sell our produce 4–6 weeks earlier than open-field growers.

The Szentes pepper has received the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) from the European Commission – one of the most important categories of the EU food quality scheme, alongside the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). The pepper varieties described in the product specification – pointed hot, sweet (for stuffing, kapia, tomato-shaped) and spicy – were first cultivated in the second half of the 19th century by Bulgarian gardeners who settled in the Szentes micro-region of south-eastern Hungary (Szegvár, Derekegyház, Fábiánsebestyén, Felgyő, Mindszent, Nagymágocs, Nagytőke and Szentes). The region's temperature and light conditions, soil and hydrographic characteristics are highly favourable for quality pepper growing.
